In our course together on Inclusive music education considerations, we have been encouraged to practice a style of conversation that sometimes goes against our instinctive responses to agree, disagree, or immediately offer our own experiences. This video demonstrates our first attempt to "re-learn" how to truly listen and encourage deeper thought in others.
We were challenged to create a composition that would embody the tenets of inclusivism, and in addition, had to do so through the confines of an online video platform. Our reflections on how the piece came together and the basis for our choices follows our performance.
In the next four videos, we experimented with interacting on a smaller scale, using course readings from Palkki & Caldwell (2018), Nichols (2013), Allsup (2016), Bradley (2012, Stanton (2018) and Chavez & Skelchy (2019). Please see our Queries tab for complete references to these authors.
